Today was an insane workout. In celebration of only having one more treatment left, what do you think I’m going to do, folks? Have some chocolate cake? Nope. Perhaps a cheeseburger? Nada. Get a tattoo? Maybe.

I DIGRESS, I’m going to kick it up a notch! BAM! Time to go all Emeril in this thing.

I’ve been feeling less and less sore after my strength training workouts, so I feel like it’s time to take it up a few levels. If you stick with a regular routine, over time, muscles adapt and get used to it – there is no impetus to grow. Lately I’ve been going by the idea that you should struggle to complete the exercise for the last 2 or 3 reps – that way, your muscles are constantly adapting and changing to the increased activity.

Here’s today’s workout – Try it and give me your feedback! 🙂



Here’s an example of coach-killers (so-named by the trainers at my job)

Then I did interval training on the treadmill – running for a total of 20 minutes, and walking for a total of 15. It felt good to get running again, and I can feel an increase in my endurance and ability/motivation to keep going. I think to myself, why stop now if I kow I can keep going for 5 more minutes? I felt great!!!

Now, I didn’t come up with this workout myself. I worked with one of the trainers at my job, at LA Fitness. It made me realize how much harder I need to push myself to get that extra edge and get my body to where I want it to be. Not only do my leg workouts need to be like this, but my arm and upper body workouts as well. I can honestly say I don’t exactly know what it’s like to have an intense chest/back or bicep/tricep workout. During strength training today, I sweated the way I normally sweat during cardio.

At first, I thought I was going to die. I had never felt a burning like that in my legs from plio’s before. I thought to myself, how the hell am I gonna do this? But I know for a fact that getting started is the hardest part and getting past it is extremely important in making the most out of a workout. Here’s me after ONLY the first exercise of the lovely legs routine.


With all that said, I’ll be posting a lot more intense strength workouts and hopefully I’ll get off this plateau and start seeing my body becoming stronger!!

  1. It takes awhile to see how hard you actually should be going during your workouts! I’m glad you’re ready to kick it up a Kotch because we start crossfit in 2 weeks!! Oh and plyos* 🙂

  2. You are! but that’s okay…it probably didn’t come up because it’s short for plyometrics. Plios is probably something else lol I tweeted this btw!
